International Relations

The international orientation of the university is reflected in the multitude of collaborations with several well-known research and educational institutions in Europe and in the possibilities it affords students and staff through their active participation in mobility and exchange programs.

Research

The research networks, groups and projects underway at the University of Crete are available on the websites of Schools and Departments.

The opportunities for research and related educational/teaching opportunities for various groups within the university are reinforced and expanded through close cooperation with the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH).

Education

The university has entered over 500 bilateral agreements with affiliated Higher Education Institutions through the European Erasmus+ Programme and other collaborators in an international setting, while participating in many education and exchange programs.

The university also takes part in networks designed to support scientific collaborations, as illustrated by the Excellence Network of Island Territories.

Policy

The University is a member of the European University Association, an organization that plays a fundamental role in representing institutions of higher education regarding policy planning in the European Research and Higher Education Areas.

European educational programs

The University of Crete takes part in many European educational programs aiming to reinforce interuniversity co‑operation, improvement in the quality of education, develop academic and student mobility, and cultivate European citizenship awareness while safeguarding national identity and cultural self-awareness.
